Please find the attached letter of opposition to the proposed merger of the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Sothern Railroads as approved by a unanimous vote of the Clinton County Board of Supervisors on October 10, 2022. Areas of concern include lack of study data collection points in Clinton County, Iowa; the reduced ability of first responders to reply to calls in areas isolated from those services when crossings become more frequently blocked; negative impact on residential quality of life and property values; and air quality deterioration.
