We are against this merger. We live at 22715 Great River Road in LeClaire and will be GREATLY affected by the train noise as well as the frequency. There are two crossings by our house. The trains, being 1 mile long, if they were to stop, would cover both crossings. What if an ambulance was needed? The whistles are blown, by some engineers, the full length of the tracks from Princeton to LeClaire and visa versa. I would beg you to put in crossing arms at each crossing and have this be a quiet zone. The whistles can be deafening, I don't care what your report has found - they are LOUD. The railroad, in their letter to homeowners concerning their work to raise the track, said that "Once ballast is poured and the track profile raised, crossings will be reinstalled and a new transition poured between the crossing and the adjacent roadway." Our railroad crossing is nothing but rock on either side of the track and is deteriorating quickly. See picture attached. It was not pored as the letter promised. We have cars that bottom out going over the tracks. I invite you to come to my house and stay overnight. If you believe the trains don't make noise and shouldn't affect anyone, please come see/hear for yourself.
