I’m shocked to here of the merger and the amount of freight trains disrupting so many communities and residents life. We have lived here almost 30 years, the transportation growth is taking a toll on our community. Airport plane traffic has increased. We did try to fight that and lost. Big $$ trumps residents ! Some residents benefited new windows and doors for soundproofing, the rest of the residents didn’t make the cut. So the rest of the residents have to suffer with the noise daily. Windsor Avenue is the first east to west Street in Wood Dale that people use as a cut off when Irving Park is blocked with a train. About 15 -20 years ago there was a problem with the trains during rush hour backing up traffic. So they would cut down Windsor; as a result we couldn’t get in and out of our driveways on our block due to the parade of cars from the hours of 3:30 to 6:30 PM due to the traffic. The village installed speed bumps and they are still here today. This is just my problem, l can’t imagine the cars and backups during rush hours creating road raged driver's!! 14 to 18 additional freight trains a day is insane, the grid lock is unfathomable! The traffic, noise, rumbling, is going to decrease properly value! What are you all thinking? Think of the impact on these people and communities. Life is already stressful due to the economy. This is just as bad as big Pharma bleeding people dry with costly meds, insurance companies with sky high deductibles, government overstepping, hedge fund management, all big corporations thinking of themselves and stepping on the little people. Why do people with power like to destroy all that is good; MONEY and GREED drives all evil. Leave these people and communities alone. Life itself today has stricken many of us, we are going with less and less daily due to the economy. Leave what little peace we have alone. The additional trains is a nightmare in the making. Find another way and leave well enough alone for God’s sake.
