There is beautiful walking trail along the river in Muscatine that crosses the railroad tracks at several points. I use the trail multiple times each week to run. I have been stopped by trains a few times which is a great inconvenience but it doesn't happen often enough to make me avoid the trail. Increasing train traffic through Muscatine would cause significantly more interruptions to pedestrians and bikers who utilize this riverfront trail. Because of this and the many other negative impacts to our community I am strongly opposed to this merger.
