Approving this proposed acquisition would be yet another failure to learn lessons from the past. Many of the factors contributing to derailments and spillage of hazardous materials resulting therefrom are unforeseeable (i.e., human error, bad management, infringement of regulations, etc.). Therefore the mitigating factors offered in support of the proposed acquisition will not be able to prevent disasters resulting from said unforeseen circumstances. he consequences of these hazardous product spills and leakages can include fire & explosion, contamination of soil, water and air as well as human fatalities in some cases. It is not worth the risks involved to approve of this acquisition.
