As a nearly life long resident of Davenport, Iowa I am appalled to think that this merger is even being seriously considered. This is backward thinking or not thinking at all. The mere idea of tripling the rail traffic through my hometown is frightening. Then add on that these train lengths will be huge. Then add on that the product on these trains would be a big environmental threat if there was any accident like derailments. And finally consider that these trains will not be of any benefit to our community, but will negatively subtract from our beautiful riverfront and quality of life for many residents and businesses, too. Also how will emergency vehicles be able to make speedy access to those in need? I Vote - NO, Absolutely NO. What sane thinking person would want this - Ever?!
