I understand that there are “mitigating factors” intended to support the proposed acquisition. However, these mitigating factors most likely cannot prevent some of the major causes of rail disasters such as human error and weather conditions. Not only do these trains carry crude oil, they also often carry other hazardous materials and information about the commodity carried in any given car is not sufficient for responders to take adequate protocols when disasters ensue. Because the mitigating factors will not be able to adequately prevent railway disasters this proposed acquisition should be DENIED.
