As a resident of Roselle, one of the cities the proposed merger's lines run through, I am strongly opposed to an increase in freight train traffic in my city. Because there is only one overpass within 12 miles either way of my city (that I am aware of), train stoppages would cause local drivers to have to wait for trains to clear or find a way to go around them. Even if a train doesn't stop, the increased idling time from hundreds of cars waiting for a train to pass a crossing will be significant. The disruption to fire, police and rescue traffic is potentially life-threatening while these responders are forced to wait at crossings for long and slow freight trains. All this results in zero benefit to my community--even indirectly. I am generally pro-business, but this is a case where regulators have to step in to consider the significant impacts on residents and the environment. Sincerely, Gordon Paisley
