This merger is bad for the environment. Much of the new cargo that will travel through our neighborhoods and along the Mississippi River will be oil. In the event of a derailment, there are serious threats toward our major water source in Minnesota, not to mention the displacement if communities if it were to occur in a city or neighborhood. Additionally, we should be moving away from fossil fuels, not approving mergers that enable their further use. Minnesota treasurers its environment, and this merger is inconsistent with our values.
