I do not want to see this merger take place. Tripling the number of railroad cars through our little town will cordon off homeowners and businesses from the main thoroughfare. It will create triple the dangerous hazards of derailment and release of toxic materials. The added noise will cause business losses and 'inspire' people to move. ("Quiet zones" ha!) The public safety will be compromised. We hold many events down by the river -- plenty of children running around to get on to the track in a split second of non supervision. Emergency vehicles will be delayed reaching urgent response. I see nothing of value to communities up and down the river. I will resent this merger if it goes through, in spite of you glowing advertisements.
