As a lifelong Missourian, I am urging the Surface Transportation Board to review the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern railroad merger more seriously. Communities across Missouri along the route have no benefits from a merger that would have many downsides, such as increased rail traffic and train length going through our towns every day. There are many issues with this merger that need to be addressed such as safety and how Missourians will benefit from these trains that disrupt their everyday life. Due to a recent train derailment in Missouri, I would like to see CP focus on how they can ensure Missourians that they will make advances in train safety and make this merger be beneficial for Missourians.
