I am very concerned that the increase train traffic that would be caused by the merger of the Canadian Pacific and Santa Fe railroads. The constant noise will be harmful to the many residents and businesses along the Mississippi river. Many of the small towns have been working for years to increase tourism and beautify their river fronts. My son lives about 1 block from the tracks and when a train goes by now all conversation must stop because of the noise. An additional concern is the safety hazard the trains would cause when they cut off the emergency responders from the homes, businesses and boat ramps along the river. The delay of the first responders for a boating accident, fire or health emergency could result in loss of multiple lives. There is not enough room to allow an overpass or underpass to get around a train that unfortunately stops blocking all access to the river side of the tracks. A train derailment in this area would be deadly.
