Comment EI-32062

Received or sent (printed as 6/22/2022)

The elected officials and residents of the City of Princeton, IA are greatly concerned over the potential Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern merger. Our riverfront community will be negatively impacted by the increased rail traffic, traveling speed of trains, and hazardous crude oil. There are serious safety and hazardous concerns regarding the limited access to private homes and business on River Drive with an increase in rail traffic. There are a high number of pedestrian and cyclists in town that will be limited to riverfront access. The Surface Transportation Board must consider how 1) first responders will be impacted when responding to calls along River Drive as well as the Princeton Beach and marina, 2) economical impact to business along Hwy 67 and River Drive, and 3) ecological disaster hazard of crude oil runoff into the Mississippi River.
