I oppose the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern proposed railroad merger. This merger is vastly opposed along the rail tracks, and across the state of Missouri. There are risks involved with this merger that I want to point out, such as children’s safety. With this merger, there will be more trains going through our towns than ever before, with longer length and that brings a risk to safety. Canadian Pacific has done nothing to address the concerns of Missourians in order to keep our kids safe. So, why would we be expected to support a merger that has no benefits to us, and only makes us have more inconveniences than we already do. Until Canadian Pacific addresses the concerns that we have, there is no reason that the Surface Transportation Board allows for this merger to pass.
