Who or what is this merger helping? It’s certainly not homeowners living near the tracks, given property values will plummet. It’s not the environment, as I heard most of this new traffic will be crude oil from Canada. It’s not our local economy, given these trains will blow right by on their way to Texas. And it’s certainly not families, as our part of the state has seen our fair share of recent derailments and train accidents. The STB needs to have CP and KCS address these concerns instead of hastily approving their merger.
