Right now, Minnesota needs all the jobs it can get. There’s talk of a possible upcoming recession and anything cutting local employment is bad for our city and state. As a condition of this merger, Canadian Pacific will move their headquarters to Kansas City taking with them more than 200 well-paying jobs. Canadian Pacific headquarters have been in Minneapolis for the last 120 years, that’s a lot of history moving out of a downtown that is still plagued with empty office buildings and boarded up storefronts.
