The route along the Mississippi River of the Santa Fe/Canadian Pacific railway to run 14+ trains per day of crude oil from Canada to Mexico is a disaster looking to happen. First, if there is a derailment - and there eventually will be - many of the rails run less than 100 fee from the river. Once the oil hits the river, it will not pool like a lake or the ocean, it will head downstream and pollute anything in its path. This is one of the most important waterways in the world, and it runs along the Great River Road which was just designated an All American Road. Second, this is a HUGE tourism area, and boaters, bikers, and general tourists go from adjoining highways all day long, especially during the summer. Additionally, many towns have their business districts between the railroad and the river, and - is the case here in Princeton - the railroad wants to reduce our crossings from 3 to 2 and one of the two cannot support tractor/trailers or large delivery trucks because they high-center, thanks to a previous rail owner. Our property values will decrease, because from adjusting from a few trains a day to 14+ more, which are transporting crude oil not produced in the U.S. and not heading to the U.S. will ruin what is now a place where people from all over the world tour the Great River Road and enjoy one of the most important waterways in the world. PLEASE, do not approve this rail route.
