As a resident of Missouri, I have significant concerns about the proposed Canadian Pacific merger with Kansas City Southern. This merger between two multi-billion dollar corporations is set to be the first single line railroad from the Gulf of Mexico, all the way to Canada, carrying oil. This is a problem and has many concerning factors. Train wait times are annoying anywhere you go, and with this railroad merger, there will be an average of 14.4 more trains per day along the route, with an additional length of nearly 5,000 feet, opposed to the current train length. Going from 8,000 to 12,850, is an excessive length difference which will lead to residents of Missouri to become more annoyed and upset with this merger. Once CP and KCS address these concerns, we can talk. But until then, I stand in opposition to this proposed railroad merger.
