I am writing in opposition to the Canadian Pacific-Kansas City Southern railroad merger. This merger is detrimental to the safety of Missourians, and I am deeply against it. With the proposed merger, there will be an average of 14.4 more trains going through towns every day, with an additional length of 5,000 feet per train. With these trains, civilians of Missouri, mostly children, will face significant safety risks. There are students that walk to school and will have to walk across these train lines, and that’s never been safe. With more trains along these lines, this will bring possible safety issues to the children of Missouri and that deeply concerns me.
