This project will result in a single-line rail network linking Canada and Mexico for the sake of corporate profit, not need or necessity. The CP-KCS will push trains far longer than what is considered safe through Minnesota rail lines. Trains will be as long as 2.25 miles, a public safety danger at all moments. At the minimum, steps need to be taken to ensure these trains don’t run longer than what safety demands. Without real consistent oversight on the trains CP will be running through Minnesota, the company will recklessly skirt safety standards to better their own bottom line.
