My family lives near the tracks that this merger will impact and I cannot fathom how troublesome this could be for my neighborhood. Not too far away, backyards filled with young children border the tracks, which creates several safety concerns in my mind. Also, I read in the paper that frequent train traffic can reduce property values over time, due to the excessive noise and vibrations. There’s no benefit to this merger for the folks along the line, just for huge companies with nothing to lose.
