The prospect that the freight train traffic can increase up to 300% through our village (Itasca) is very concerning and will affect our way of living in a very negative way. First, our fire department and ambulance services will be significantly delayed with long waits at the train crossings. This could be life threatening in many cases. Second, our school busses, that transport students to and from the north and south sides of town will be regularly delayed. Third, our town is very interconnected and we already have to wait for trains and are, many times, late for appointments and important meetings/gatherings as we travel from one side of town to the other with the current train schedule. A 300% increase will make the problem even more difficult. Fourth, it is certain that there will be large bottlenecks of traffic jamming the intersections by the train crossings as there is not alot of road space there, making this area more susceptible to accidents and further jeopardizing the safety of our residents. Last, we have quite a few houses along the train line. The noise from even more long freight trains will very negatively affect their everyday lives. The lifestyle, safety and general well being for Itasca residents would be very severely impacted negatively with such increased freight train traffic. (Received via project website)
