I am very concerned that there is a possibility of an additional 6+ freight trains that could be going through our area daily. Wood Dale is already plagued with more than our share of traffic, air pollution and noise due to road and air traffic from O’Hare. Emergency vehicles in our town need to be able to access residents on both sides of the tracks. This could be a matter of life and death for our residents. The railroad tracks that these trains will be running on run right through the middle of our town. During commute times, even the amount of Metra trains that already run on these tracks cause terrible delays – especially if you are traveling on Wood Dale Road. Air cargo planes and freight trains already create a lot of noise during the night. We cannot handle any more of this. Irving is a main through way from the city and is always very congested during morning and evening rush hours. Blocking this road for any additional length of time would be unfair not just to those who live in our town, but to all who commute through it. The tracks that cross Irving by York are already elevated. There has to be a better solution than to block our roadways and create additional noise and pollution for residents of Wood Dale and nearby towns. (Received via project website)
