I have been residing just west of O'hare airport for over 40 years and have heard for years of the advantages of airport expansion and seen the negative effects it has had the residents and especially the impacts on the roads. The rail merger imformation tells us yet another impact on our roads will be inevitable. Our main surface roads thru our towns can no longer be widened and we now have to share streets and roads with more and more truck traffic brought on by aggressive large warehouse construction brought on from airport expansion. This increase in congestion the last few years have brought will be compounded by an increase in train traffic that will guarantee far more road congestion that will put even more thru traffic into residential neighborhoods. Traffic on our main east west road, Irving Park in Wood Dale has also increased due to the excessive toll cost of the recently built 390 toll road which eliminated east west Thorndale thoroughfare. CP rail line crosses Irving Park and Wood Dale road in the center of Wood Dale which will be hit hard by additional freight train traffic. I understand the benefits of this merger for CP rail, but if it increases train traffic in our town it will be a permanent and unsolvable. We also have had to deal with a major increase in airport noise due to the O'hare runway realignment and due not deserve another impact, such as additional train traffic, affecting our town.
