I find the idea of adding 6 - 8 freight trains daily to a residential train route to be absolutely absurd. The additional disruption and danger to the communities along the route from Chicago to Elgin by increasing the amount of freight traffic is totally unacceptable. The wear and tear alone on track and equipment on a rail line that runs in close proximity to downtown areas, schools, hospitals, apartments, condominiums and innumerable single -family residences is a recipe for disasters. These are long-standing communities where people try to live, work and sleep without the delays, disruption and dangers that the additional freight traffic would bring. There simply has got to be a better solution to the issue of moving freight across the country - and for how the Canadian Pacific Railroad can increase its profits. (Received via project website)
