I strongly oppose this merger. The tracks in our suburbs, Itasca, Medinah, Roselle are and have been basically commuter trains. The surrounding neighborhoods nearby these tracks have homes close to the tracks. It is one thing to have a commuter train go by your home, but to have a string of an additional 6-8 freight trains pass by your home and neighborhood at all hours of the day and night is unconscionable. This merger will create additional, noise, air and environmental pollution to all areas affected. Emergency vehicles, Police, Fire, ambulances, will be at a stand still due to this merger. Downtown areas that have local shopping areas and restaurants will be destroyed due to the unpleasantness of a freight train passing right through their store fronts and outdoor restaurant eating areas, due to the unsightliness, noise and pollutions that freight trains generate.
