The newly proposed alternate route for the Tongue River Railroad is still part of a very bad plan and should not be accepted or permitted. The mine will turn the Otter Creek valley into a massive open pit coal mine, very likely ruining the properties, ranches and other livelihoods of those who have made the valley home, often since generations. Together with a potential permit request for additional acreage to mine, all coal will be hauled to and burned in Asia, but ultimately will result in over 2.6 billion tons of greenhouse gases going into our planet's already overloaded atmosphere. These projects should not be permitted when the obvious effects of climate change that are affecting the planet can clearly no longer be denied!!
