I am completely opposed to the Tongue River Railroad project. As a citizen in a community that will be affected by this construction and train traffic, I realize that the quality of life of the entire community will be greatly diminished. Increased traffic congestion, noise pollution, and wait times, in addition to severe impacts on the ability of emergency responders to access an entire subsection of the community because of increased train traffic are the outcome of this project for this community. This is a serious concern. This is also only one side of the ticket. The STB needs to study in depth 2 things: -The impacts of increased train traffic on communities like Bozeman that are affected by the railroad. - The impacts of burning the coal in China. Climate change is very real, and you cannot discount the end result of increased coal traffic, mining, and eventually burning on the climate. It's imperative that more study on the impacts of this project are undertaken before you can consider the Tongue River Project.
