My family adamantly opposes construction of the Tongue River Railroad and the disruption to Montana landscapes, environment and transportation disruptions that will ensue for the benefit of Asian coal corporations. We rhetorically ask, WHY would the U.S. STB endorse a project with so many negative consequences to its citizens, such as mandating that the people subsidize this development through upgrades of railroad crossings, bridges and the like through the state and by gut-wrenchingly taking people's land so others can financially benefit, and so Asia can burn Montana coal and send the pollutants back to North America within a week's time??? Members of my family have lived in the Tongue River Valley and love and respect the agricultural, historical, and cultural resources of area, as well as its hardy and determined families who have lived there for generations. We fervently ask that you consider the impacts of this proposed railroad upon the people, landscapes, and environment of Montana in the scope of the environmental impact statement. Please fully acknowledge and respond to the statewide opposition to this project. We ask that you choose the no-action alternative.
