I am concerned about the Tongue River Railroad facillatating shipping coal to Asia, where it will be burned, contributing to global warming and water, air, and noise pollution along the rail lines that go through the United States. I am concerned about the condemnation of productive ranch and farm country for 89 miles along the Tongue River Valley. This is Montana Ranch country, a valued historical region and provides great habitat for wildlife. This agricultural land would be condemned, cut in half and devalued just to help private developers export this coal to Asia. Lastly, if the railroad has to be built, the Colstrip alternative would be best for this part of Montana. It would cross less agricultural land and would partially use a existing rail line. Respectively submitted by Shirley Bollinger, resident of eastern Montana.
