Myself and my loved ones are among the families whose lives would be literally upended if Conrail is granted abandonment rights and with their developer partner, given a free pass to demolish the Embankment. In August of 2007, I was overjoyed when the STB ruled that the Embankment remained a part of national rail system and was subject to abandonment process. I had hoped this decision meant the public would finally have a voice in the future of this historic structure. It would be a travesty of justice and a mockery of this prior ruling if the STB did not go forward with a complete EIS. Please do not let the SEA be the last word when making your decision on the future of the Embankment. On behalf of my family and neighbors, I implore you to recoginize this public outcry and order a full and impartial Environmental Impact Statement to guide the Board's pending rulings.
