I am writing to request the STB conduct a full study of the effects that abandonment of the Harsimus Branch, and demolition of the Embankment, will have on the neighborhood and the city. This is an area of the city which suffers from drainage problems, demolition would increase this by decreasing recharge area and increasing impervious surface. There also would be the adverse effect of truck and heavy equipment traffic in the neighborhood during demolition and more traffic from development. There will also be impact of noise dust and vibration during demolition and construction in an area of the city already overburdened by these effects from construction. From an environmental standpoint, preservation is a better option for an area of the city in need of open space. The embankment is very similar to New York City's High Line which they have had the wisdom to make into an linear park. Please reconsider and do a full environmental study. Thank You.
