To Whom It May Concern, The Surface Transportation Board should authorize a full environment impact statement of the Harismus Branch. Failing that the board should at least comply with Section 106 regulations of the Department of the Interior and New Jersey State Historic Preservation Office. A cultural resource survey of the embankment should be performed. This will allow planners a overall picture of how the embankment fits into the community historically and how it may continue to serve the aforesaid community. In terms of the green" movement and creation of jobs, generally, reuse is of utmost importance at this time and repurposing the embankment is far superior to demolition. I have seen that the embankment has been in the papers recently because of eroding conditions. I find this hard to believe because of the original intent of the structure. However, if it is indeed eroding every effort should be taken now to preserve it. This is the "green" solution. This is the conscientious decision."
