As a 16-year resident of Hudson County, including 12 years in Jersey City, I deeply value the cultural (and architectural) legacy of the area's rich history. Today -- nature quiet and flowering atop, stone cool and massed below -- the Harsimus Branch Embankment is a stunning physical feature that anchors Downtown Jersey City. But even before detailing the catalog of legal reasons for nullifying the process by which a private developer has attempted to lay claim to this vital public land, any and all must pause to appreciate the site's unique reverted" state and its geographic centrality to the urban fabric of New Jersey's most-densely populated city. We are describing a serene-yet-dominant element of the landscape, respecting the rectilinear city grid, but still free. Untouched for decades, the Embankment is a precious civic (and natural) resource, as is, a prime community asset deserving of every protection your agency can extend. Please, save this treasure. Yours in hope and reason, ANDREW C. HUBSCH"
