My spouse and I are retired, and we bike for recreation and exercise. We live part of the year in Stamford , Connecticut , and part in Naples , Florida . In Stamford as well as other parts of CT and Massachusetts, several organizations work to complete the East Coast Greenway, which provides safe, off-road trails for people who use nonmotorized transportation for commuting, recreation, and exercise. Wehave made significant use of these trails and believe it very important to utilize these spaces for the public in wholesome and health conscious activities. When completed, the East Coast Greenway will be especially desirable to the young and to retired people like ourselves who cannot or do not want to depend on the automobile. We look forward to the day when we can put our bicycles on the Greenway in Stamford, take a leisurely trip through New York, stopping at Bed & Breakfasts along the way, visit our friends in Jersey City who live a few blocks from the Harsimus Branch, and continue all the way to Florida. Please do not make a decision that will set back the East Coast Greenway’s coming to Jersey City . Ray Nord
