Comment EI-17429

Received or sent (printed as 4/13/2009)

The Harsimus Branch Embankment is an historic landmark in Jersey City. It is a a reminder of the quality of construction in the early days of the area. It could be utilized in many ways. Because of it's elevation, it could support public spaces and facilities which would be striking in their sense of space, without the monotony of just more of the same low lying downtown monotony dwarfed by the Newport development. It seems ridiculous at this time of economic stress to consider the expense of demolishing this unique and potentially functional structure to alter the environment of the area in a way that would make it less valuable as a place to live. Sincerely, John Eckert.
