Destroying the Embankment will not only destroy a local landmark, but the environmental impact on the community will be large--not only in terms of it destruction, but also by implication that something will undoubtedly be resurrected in its place. I live across from the Embankment and I am truly concerned about the total implication of what destroying the Embankment would mean for not only my community but also my family, and new born baby. I shudder to think about the tangible pollution in the air, soil, and water and how it will affect my baby's health (and my own for that matter). At a minimum, the notion of destroying the Embankment must NOT have ever been considered a rational idea unless the community had a well defined understanding (and better yet--a say) in its future.
