Please authorize a full and fact-based Environmental Impact Statement of the entire Harsimus Branch. Abandonment would cause severe adverse effects to this critical Jersey City historic landmark as well as the citizens who live near the Embankment. Living on the waterfront, destruction of this embankment would cause not only great disruption to the daily lives of local Jersey City residents via large amounts of noise and traffic, but would also severely lessen the air quality of the neighborhood; displace all the wildlife currently living in the embankment, and generally ruin a large cultural and aesthetic part of what makes living in this neighborhood so appealing. I’m also very concerned about flooding, as the embankment currently helps absorb some stormwater - flooding is already bad enough in this part of town. Let's go forward the Coalition and City's plans for a public park for everyone's use in this densely populated City of Jersey City.
