I urgently suggest that you authorize an Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed project. While I am conscious that there are limited resources available for the pursuit of such studies, I do believe that in the case of the embankment in Jersey City there are many factors that must be properly factored in and the people supporting the porject have shown marked disregard for the local community and its environs, both for people and for the ecosystem. Jersey City has been the location of a number of construction projects in recent years, with a noticeable impact on the quality of the air we breath, noise, dust and pollution. Adding yet another project without even assessing the impact seems a misstep likely to cause harm to people and given the nature of the embankment to remove possible future options. This land was, as I understand, sepcifically earmarked and landscped to allow rail transportation, which seem to be a type of infrastructure that we will need more and more of in future years. Allowing questionable transactions and processes to be fast-tracked smacks of regulators and ligislators unable or unwilling to do their jobs, in a grab for a fast buck that we've seen far too much of in recent years. Local residents do care about these and other issues, and we do not want the project to proceed. Please do everything you can to review the proposal, assess the impact, and prevent yet more people, noise, and pollution crammed into smaller and smaller spaces without regard for proper building designs and processes. Best regards, Rod Scott-Thomas
