As someone who has lived in downtown Jersey City for many years, I urge you to authorize an Environmental Impact Statement on the Harsimus Branch Embankment. Abandonment will not only lead to the destruction of an historic landmark, but it will guarantee that an opportunity to preserve and improve desperately needed green space has been lost. Our local government has favored business interests to the great detriment of our quality of life in this area. There may be higher rents and more restaurants, but the quality or our air and our community connections have deteriorated immensely. Conrail has neglected the site for decades and does not deserve to take precedence over the interests and concerns of the citizens of Jersey City. Thanks you for your attention.
