Please conduct a full Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Embankment. I live across from it and the destruction of the Embankment, and eventual construction of high rises would significantly impact our neighborhood with young families. JC is also at a critical point at which many young families are moving here to have more space and live in historic neighborhoods, much like Park Slope in Brooklyn. The appeal for those neighborhoods is returning and is attractive for families working in Manhattan. Off the top of my head, immediate impact would be things like: Air quality Dust Noise Damage to buildings on two sides of the embankment for ½ mile. Release of contaminants Loss of an open space resource Loss of transportation corridor Environmental justice issues Heavy truck traffic thru fragile historic districts
