Please do due diligence and perform a full environmental study before considering demolition of the embankment. I seriously hope that demolition doesn’t happen and that the embankment is converted into necessary green space, which is rare in Jersey City. Besides the aesthetic considerations of green space, the embankment soaks up massive amounts of ground water during rains/floods. Downtown Jersey City is already plagued by a seriously antiquated sewage system (we’ve flooded several times ourselves); loss of the green space on the Embankment will only amplify Downtowns flooding problems.
