As a Jersey City resident, I am calling for an EIS statement (Environmental Impact Statement) to be done on the Embankment area prior to any proposed demolition. I am deeply concerned about the effects that demolition of this area will have on the environment & general quality of life in our area. This includes effects on & concerns about air quality, noise & increased traffic, health, release of contaminants, issues related to our flood plains, water quality, destruction to local wildlife & ecosystem, and loss of a light rails linking Seacaucus to the waterfront. I find it completely irresponsible for any agency to neglect performing such an environmental study before demolishing such a massive structure. Furthermore, I personally endorse preservation of this area to create a network of parks & walkable greenways & bike paths ... because this is what is truly in the best interests of Jersey City.
