What's going on boggles the mind. We're talking about what's already been established as a pivotal part of JC history. Conrail did not properly abandon this railroad property, & did not properly sell it; STB rules for just about everybody else is that such a site be made available to an entity representative of the PUBLIC, not sold to a PRIVATE party. Despite the 3 million dollar price tag, that site legally sh/ not be the property of Victoria--vis-a-vis developer Steve Hyman. The City of Jersey City sh/ have had the opportunity to purchase it. Why sh/ Conrail have been immune to the rules & regs ro which others are expected to adhere. & the idea of demolishing such a behemoth while foregoing an environmental impact study is lunancy. Negative ramifications such as particulate matter, flooding, increased traffic, ecosystems & wildlife, & culture need to be part of the decision-making process.
