There seem to be several reasons for Conrail not to abandon & demolish the embankment(s): the desire of the people in our community to want to preserve the embankment(s), historical significance of the land(s), the release of possible contaminants, the need for green space & trees to counteract our increasing envionmental contamination, rather than more hi-rises. The community members of Jersey City & The Embankment Preservation Coalition want a full and fact-based Environmental Impact Study of the entire Harsimus Branch!
