Comment EI-17045

Received or sent (printed as 4/6/2009)

Dear STB: I would like to request a full environmental study of the entire Harsimus Branch. Conrail's abandonment and demolition of the railroad embankment would have a negative impact on the local air quality, create noise, lead to heavy truck traffic through fragile historic district, damage buildings on two sides for one-half mile, remove a cultural resource, exacerbate a stormwater absorption problem in an area already probe to flooding, negatively affect water quality by increasing the burden on combined sewers, destroy a habitat for local wildlife, including migratory birds and monarch butterflies, and much local species. Additionally, it would destroy the character of a neighborhood and, as stated, take away what has become important green space. Please conduct an environmental review before any drastic measures are taken. Many thanks for your time.
