Hello, I have been following the sad story surrounding recent developments with the 6 block railroad embankment in downtown Jersey City. I was introduced to this issue while visiting a friend living near the embankment. It is so rare to find such a beautiful natural area in the middle of an already congested urban setting. This is a precious piece of land that should be cultivated and nurtured. How can a society spend billions promoting green living and allow a beautiful piece of nature to be wiped out to make way for more condos. At the time my friend showed me plans that had been created to turn this area into a gorgeous (and much needed) park. Everyone that I meet in his neighborhood spoke of the proposed park with dreamy hope. It is simply criminal to allow something like this to disappear. I am writing to voice my sadness on the latest turn of events and to request that a full and fact-based environmental impact study of the Harsimus Branch be conducted before allowing any further changes to take place.
