I was stunned to hear that there is even discussion of taking down the old stone walls in downtown Jersey City. I’m a resident of Fort Lee, NJ and have watched in dismay as bits of our county’s history have been destroyed and replaced by something “new”. Jersey City is a place that got much of it’s notoriety from it’s railroad lines which extended down to the Hudson River. Why in the world, would this historic community allow the destruction of such a site. Although I have never had the opportunity to go up on top the railroad structure, I have often imagined what the breathtaking views would be like from 30 feet above street level. What an amazing opportunity the City of Jersey City has, to give the neighborhood a park with such an unusual perspective. Please do an Environmental Impact Study before you allow yet another historic site to disappear.
