We need a full and fact-based Environmental Impact Study of the entire Harsimus Branch. My home abuts the 6th Street Embankment at its highest point. From my kitchen window, I can see a multitude of wildlife and a forest of trees. This is a view hardly known in Jersey City and it would be a tragedy to lose it. On the flip side, destroying the Embankment would not just take away the living creatures, it would kick up huge amounts of dust and debris (containing a host of unknown contaminants)and bring inevitable damage to the old houses lining the length of it. That is not progress, that is destruction for no real need. Development must be balanced against the real need for open, green space in an urban environment.
