I'd like to request a full environmental study on the impact of demolition of the 6th St Embankment in Jersey City. The downtown area, containing the Embankment, consists of established and emerging residential neighborhoods, focused around the transportation corridors to the waterfront commercial region, Newark and New York City. The 6th St Embankment represents a means to link these communities, and open up links to other areas in the Jersey City Heights region, for example, which are currently difficult to access. It also provides a green corridor in the heart of the city, which sadly the residents are largely unable to access. Demolition of the Embankment would provide further housing in the area, something that is already available in abundance, at the expense of removing the opportunities for green space, public transit and community integration that the Embankment currently offers.
